What is Bali Jigging ?

We have received many several question about what is jigging in Bali, well lets try to explain by words, its possible also by you joining us on our jigging charter and the guide/captain will show you how.
Jigging fishing is using jigs/metal jigs that lookalike prey fish and play the jigs at the seabed to mimic the action of wounded bait fish for the predator to strike. It also may disturbing the predator fish territory so the territorial predator fish thinks its a threat and intruder then they will bite it.
How to jigging,
when the tackle set are ready with the metal jig attached on the end of the line, angler must lower the jig until the seabed. when hits seabed, they have to put the bail arm of the reel back so the jig will be at the seabed, then they have to pull the rods up and move the rod’s tip down while reel in the line. That will create such an action lokkalike wounded fish at the bottom.
The attracted fish, will then strike by biting the lure as they think its a prey or the jig entering their teritoy fish.
Territorial fish
What we target on jigging mostly are Dogtooth tuna, Amberjack, Ruby snapper, sometime Giant treavlly and barracuda also bite the jig.
Jigging in bali.
Jigging in Bali may different to anywhere in the world. That is Bali has very strong underwater current, up to 5-7 knots, makes all the jigging sport fisherman must use HEAVIER lure than other part of the world. 0In Bali we use at least 400gram jig to 600 grams jig weight in order to reach the bottom of the sea, because our target fish are inhabitant of deep seabed.
The depth are also around 80 meters to the deepaest 200 meters, average we jigging in Bali are in the range of 80 meters depth to 140- meters depth.
To know exactly where we will lower the jigs, our boat are equipped with Furuno 1000watts sounder and Garmin Sounder-GPS combo.
so far,
only several people that we bring to fish able to master the jigging method, some are experienced jigger, some are keen to learn the new method.
Jigging is fun, testing the anglers’ endurance and its the real sports.
