Bali silent Day, March 16 – 2010
On the 16th March 2010, Bali will celebrate the most unique day in the world, Bali silent day.
The bali silent day celebrate every Hindu years, one day each year.

At that day, all activities should be paused, airport closed, electricy must be shut down, we will be in total darkness, and no one allowed to go out, no TV, no sound, no un necessary lights.

No one allowed to go out .. That mean no POLLUTION !! hurrayyyy …
this is the most day i loved in entire year, i can enjoy a day without any sound pollutions of motors, only natural sky lights, no sonic boom of an airplane, it will be awesome.

For some people its a torture, they are panic to arrange a short getaway trip out of the island for the entire Nyepi day ( silent day) but not me, i loved to enjoy every darkness, every silence, every unpolluted air i breath. why would i left bali for the most extraordinary event that can only be happened in bali? One day wont hurt without any modern life business, just me and my lovely family, playing with kid all day, teach my kid to thank what a modern world can give us and what a modern world harm us.

CoalFiredPowerPlant

Its a no pollution day. its a family day in silence of modern world.

i wish if every region or district or country all over the globe can do this for one day, how many coals use in power plan that polluted our world we can reduce, how many nuclear waste we can reduce, how many petrol and fuel we save that day.

The Nyepi day should teach us to value the limited energy resources we had left, to teach us for being grateful for what God’s gifts to us to maintain our energy-waste modern world life style. The global warming will not come this soon if we have the awareness of using our energy as much as we need and as efficient as we can, not using it as much as we can.

we at Indonesia, can’t use as much as energy as we want, not because its not provided, we always count every single cent to pay the energy bill, we dont drive big monster car that other country drive since hundreds years ago, just because most of us SIMPLY CANT AFFORD IT !! We dont much thrash goods or electronic that broken before try to repair it, its simply because most of us cant afford it !

what if the citizen of the world, despite they have buying ability, do the same, repair it before throwing it, use energy as we need enough, use energy saver car and transportation, being humble and simple. less energy bill less world pollution problems we had.

Use energy as much as you need, not as much as you greed,
we dont own the furture world by our self,
our kids will inherit the pollutions and problems we left behind.

www.antara.co.id/en/news/1254929146/thousands-of-fish-found-dead-in-timor-sea

Kupang (ANTARA News) – Thousands of fish of different species were seen dead floating in Timor Sea waters, presumably caused by crude oil spills from a blast at Montara oil refinery last August 20.

“We saw the dead fish floating in an area at 11-29 degrees southern latitude and 124-30 degrees western longitude,” Gab Oma (33), a fisherman from Oesapa, Kupang, who just arrived from fishing in the area, told reporters here on Wednesday, while showing pictures of the floating fish taken with his phone camera.

“Some of the fish are already in a state of decay. We had taken some to keep for use as evidence but later we threw them back into the sea because we could not stand the smell,” he said.

He said he , along with 17 other fishermen from Oesapa, had just returned from fishing in Timor Sea waters by boat. “We returned only carrying four red fish compared to usually hundreds in a day and night of fishing,” he said.

Haji Mustafa (34), another fisherman who is also chief of the Association of Timor Sea Traditional Fishermen, said the polluted area was a habitat of the red fish NTT fishermen usually caught.

“We believe the fish have gone to other areas or died,” he said.
Gab Oma said when they were in an area 10-30 degrees southern latitude and 24-30 eastern longitude they found balls of crude oil in an area around 20 miles from Tablolong beach, West Kupang, or around 30 miles from Kolbano southern coast in South Central Timor.

He said he had taken the white-colored balls of crude oil home to show that crude oil pollution had really happened in the Timor Sea.

No oil spills however were found in the waters believed to be the location of the pollution during navy patrols from the 7th Main Naval Base in Kupang not long ago.

According to a report from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) to the Indonesian ministry of communications, pollution had reached around 51 miles from Rote island in East Nusa Tenggara.(*)

Oil spill worsens, NTT sets up post

Yemris Fointuna , The Jakarta Post , Kupang | Sat, 10/03/2009 2:04 PM | The Archipelago
www.thejakartapost.com/news/2009/10/03/oil-spill-worsens-ntt-sets-post.html

East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) residents are becoming more distressed by the massive oil spill in the Timor Sea, especially fishermen who depend on it for their livelihood.

NTT Deputy Governor Esthon Foennay said Friday his administration urgently responded to the offshore Australian Montara gas and oil field spillage. He said the Timor Sea, abundant with marine life, was at risk of being seriously damaged.

“The situation has affected fishermen in the Timor Sea,” he said in NTT’s capital city of Kupang.

“The provincial administration has reported the incident to the central government to instigate bilateral talks between Indonesia and Australia.”

The oil slick was reported to have spread 80 kilometers, and is estimated to reach the shores of West Timor in the next two weeks.

The Indonesian Navy has deployed a naval vessel to gain further insight about the pollution level from local fishermen and West Timor Care Foundation reports.

“The Navy sent a ship to the Timor Sea on Thursday night aimed at observing the extent of damage caused by the crude-oil slick in Australia,” a source said in Kupang.

The NTT legislative council has urged the central government to take a firm stance on Timor Sea pollution.

“We received reports the oil spill is getting closer to the Kolbano area in South Central Timor regency. Some residents were reportedly suffering from skin irritation and nausea after consuming fish. The issue is quite serious – the central government should take urgent steps to push Australia to clean up the mess,” NTT legislative vice speaker Nelson Matara said on Thursday.

The Directorate General of Sea Transportation has instructed the Tenau Port administration in Kupang to immediately set up a command post to monitor the oil spill, which is believed to have polluted Indonesian waters.

The oil slick is currently located less than 80 kilometers from Rote Island, Indonesia’s southernmost island.

Tenau Port Administration head Piter Fina has organized routine patrols to determine the oil slick’s direction, which is expected to reach Indonesian shores in the middle of the month.

“We will continue to send reports to the central government,” Piter said.

The Australian Embassy in Jakarta said in a press statement Indonesian officials would visit Darwin this week to monitor the handling of the oil leak.

“The visit’s aim is to observe Australia’s measures to combat the spillage,” Paul Robilliard, the Australian Embassy’s deputy head of mission to Indonesia, said.

“Our measures would effectively minimize sea pollution.

“Authorities in Australia have applied nontoxic solvents to accelerate the cleanup process. After the slick dissolves, a nontoxic oil sheen will appear on the water’s surface, which is not dangerous,” he explained.

He also said authorities would conduct aerial patrols to observe the oil leak, and carry out procedures to confine the slick from spreading further.

“We immediately informed Indonesian authorities about the spill, and kept them notified about further developments. We intend to work with Indonesia to protect the environment,” Robilliard said.

The Montara oil and gas field leaked on Aug. 21. An oil rig recently arrived at the Montara offshore oil rig to drill a replacement well to stop the leak.

West Timor Care Foundation director Ferdi Tanoni said his organization had forged an alliance with the Mining Advocacy Network (Jatam), Greenpeace Indonesia, Greenpeace Australia, WWF Indonesia, WWF Australia and Ocean Watch, to carry out independent investigations into the environmental impacts caused by the pollution.

“We urge the Indonesian and Australian governments to take necessary steps to resolve the issue,” he said.

We understand that the structure can be made from steel, we have the donations of 100+ used rickshaw that made from steel at most part, we are thinking top take off all the rubber parts and sink some 5-10 units underwater and anchor them is a configuration of circle. SO at the depth oif 15-10 meters, the diving operator can take benefits of making another Bali diving attractions, photographs on underwater rickshaw, the only one in the world.

The dive operators will surely benefits from this idea as werll as the local; people can provide all the supportive facilitation for the new attraction.

For that benefits, we would like to ASK for a return, help us make the FAD becoming true, we need all the support we can get for transporting the rickshaw into the location, chain them together before we sink it, labor works, PERMIT AND LICENSE FROM EVERYWHERE (gosh ….) and the most importantly we asking the local people to keep the FAD in one piece , it will benefits everyone, sport fishermans, dive operators, government, and etc. and hopefully all of those 100+ rickshaw be able to have coral grown on it, Photo attraction for underwater rickshaw dive spots starts going, the FAD for sport fisherman also collecting fish, everyone happy, environment again will be saved as lkegacy for our children.

We’re open for any idea, any idea any helps will be very appreciated,
